Week 15 Part A: What We Can Learn from Google Analytics
One of the most useful features I would check regularly for my business is page views. Page views tell me how many times people are visiting my website, which helps me see if the content I’m putting out is getting attention. If the number of views is going up, I know something is working, whether it’s my SEO, social media, or could even be word-of-mouth. If it’s going down, I can look into what might be causing the drop. This is a basic but really helpful way to measure how visible and attractive my website is to people in the digital realm.
Another important feature I’d pay attention to is engagement. Engagement tells me if people are just clicking and leaving, or if they’re actually interacting with my content. That could mean liking posts, leaving comments, or sharing things on social media. It also includes how long they stay on a page, which shows if they’re really reading or watching something. If I notice that certain types of posts get more interaction, I can create more content like that. It helps me understand what my audience is interested in, which makes my marketing more effective.
I’d also make sure to track conversions, which are the actions people take after visiting my site, such as signing up for a newsletter, making a purchase, etc. Conversions show whether my content is actually convincing people to take the next step. If I see that people are visiting but not converting, I’d know something needs to be improved. Maybe my site isn’t easy to navigate, or my call-to-action isn’t clear enough. Regularly checking conversions can help me make better decisions about how to improve my site and reach higher goals.
Additionally, another big one for me would be mobile friendliness. Since most people browse the web on their phones now, it’s super important that my website looks good and works well on mobile. If it’s hard to use on a phone, people will probably leave right away. By checking this regularly, I can make sure I’m not losing visitors just because the site doesn’t function properly on their device. A smooth mobile experience can help build trust and comfortability among a majority audience and keep people coming back.
Lastly, I’d keep a close eye on my social media traffic and mentions. I want to know how many people are coming to my site from platforms like Instagram or Facebook, and what kind of content is bringing them there. I’d also want to see what people are saying about my business online: Are they tagging me in positive reviews? Are they asking questions or sharing their experiences? Paying attention to that would help me stay connected with my audience and keep improving based on real feedback.
